Hy Stor submits reservation for 1GW of Nel’s electrolyser solutions

April 26, 2024

Hy Stor Energy has placed a capacity reservation for more than 1GW of Nel ASA’s alkaline and PEM electrolyser technologies. The gigawatt capacity order will be used for Hy Stor’s Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub (MCHH) in the US, an off-grid hydrogen production and salt cavern storage hub. Pending final investment decision (FID), electrode production at Nel’s Herøya, Norway, plant will run through 2025, 2026 and the start of 2027. The capacity reservation won’t be considered as order intake or backlog until a firm purchase has been made. Nel’s President and CEO, Håkon Volldal, claimed MCHH can enable “significant carbon emission reductions and leave in its wake a blueprint for successful, large-scale green hydrogen projects.” Laura Luce, CEO and Founder of Hy Stor Energy, added, “Nel has proven electrolyser technologies and an automated manufacturing capability that fit perfectly with Hy Stor Energy’s plans to produce and deliver green hydrogen reliably and cost effectively.
